Built in Newark,
next to the equipment.
Cosmolabe started inside a family HVAC business in Newark, Delaware.
From a family
HVAC business.
Founder Tanner Boulden worked on that business’s warranty program: registering plans, managing contracts, and moving its plans off a third-party provider. What he saw was the same everywhere. Contractors sell a warranty on almost every install, but the price comes from someone else’s table, and the claim pays fixed hours that don’t cover the job.
He built Cosmolabe’s pricing engine on real service records, not a spreadsheet of assumptions. He studied at Yale and is building Cosmolabe full-time. He is a 2024 graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and is writing up the company’s pooled-pricing method for an actuarial journal.
A way to find
your own position.
The astrolabe let a navigator fix their position from the sky without an astronomer aboard. Cosmolabe is built to give every contractor a warranty priced from its own records, without an actuary on staff.
