A few things worth
knowing before you start.
Straight answers about the plan, claims, pricing and your data.
Do I have to change how I sell?
No. Your technician offers the plan the same way they offer a warranty today. It shows up in the proposal, and nothing changes at the kitchen table.
Who stands behind the plan?
Cosmolabe’s program company will be the obligor on every plan, meaning the company legally responsible for paying its claims, with insurance behind claims wherever states require it. Plans launch in 2027.
How is the price set?
From your own equipment and repair history: what you install, how often it fails and what repairs cost you. While your history builds up, a pooled, de-identified book will fill in once more contractors join. You set your retail price and your margin.
How do claims work?
The repair job in your field-service software is the claim. It’s built to be paid in days, at your documented cost or the cap you chose, with no signed ticket or mailed invoice. A person reviews every denial.
Does the plan pay the whole repair?
If you choose full cost, yes: it’s built to pay actual hours at your labor rate on file. You’ll also be able to choose a capped plan, or book hours like today’s plans, for a lower price. Pilot shops will see each option’s price, the gap they’d cover and the all-in cost, from their own history.
Is it cheaper than my current plan?
It depends on your book and the option you pick. A plan that pays the full repair can cost more up front than one that pays fixed hours, but you stop covering the gap yourself. Your price comes from your own book, so it can be higher or lower than a provider’s table. In the pilot, we’ll show you your all-in cost both ways.
What’s the profit share?
If you opt in, part of what’s left in your book’s claims fund after claims settle comes back to you each year. A careful installer earns more.
What if I don’t have much history?
Pooled pricing will fill the gap once more contractors join, and eligibility rules (like a waiting period on new coverage) keep the book fair. Start with a readiness report to see what your data supports.
What do you need from me?
For the readiness report, two exports from any field-service system: installed equipment and repair history. When you pilot, a read-only link to Jobber replaces the exports; ServiceTitan is coming. Nothing to re-enter.
Which states?
Delaware and Pennsylvania first, in 2027, with more states after.
Is my data safe?
You keep all rights to what you upload. It stays separate from every other company’s data, is used to run your program (and to improve our models only if you opt in), and is never sold. Pooled pricing uses only de-identified, aggregated figures.
Where is my data kept?
The service runs on Amazon Web Services. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes, and two-factor sign-in is available. Files and reports from a readiness report are kept 12 months from your first upload, and you can delete them sooner.
Can my AI assistant use it?
That’s the plan. Every step is designed so your software or AI assistant can do it directly. Connectors for Claude and ChatGPT are in the works.
